Reported by TAC –  Major Changes to Section 811 Supportive Housing for Persons with Disabilities Program Passed in the U.S. House of Representatives and was introduced in the U.S. Senate.  On July 22, 2009, the Frank Melville Supportive Housing Investment Act (H.R. 1675) passed in the U.S. House of Representatives. The Senate version of the 811 bill (S.1481) was introduced in the Senate on July 23, 2009, by lead co-sponsors, Senator Menendez (D-NJ) and Senator Johanns (R-NE).

This ground breaking bi-partisan legislation will make significant changes and improvements to the Section 811 Supportive Housing for Persons with Disabilities program. The bill will modernize the Section 811 Supportive Housing for Persons with Disabilities program, and will create a Project-Rental Assistance Demonstration program to expand the supply of permanent supportive housing for low-income persons with disabilities.  READ MORE
